"SALT on the RUG":  defining "creative music" in the 1980’s.

Salt started out as a weekly get-together in the living rooms of Santa Barbara California in the early 1980’s, and performed through the decade. Their repertoire ranging from traditional and native ballads to modern original sounds delighted their audiences.

  Salt on the Rug
created a commanding
new sound that excited
music lovers. Their novel
 music included all genre.
Salt's music has the edge
  of rock, the off-beat rhythms
of jazz and the drive of Mid-Eastern
     and European traditional music.
Salt on the Rug’s music is a unique
fusing of Celtic beginnings with jazz,
folk/rock and classical elements.
Salt offers a CD of their music, featuring
a set of thirteen songs and medleys, which
comprise over 40 minutes of music.
The work spanned over a year and a half at the
Santa Barbara Sound Design recording studios

under the direction and engineering of Daniel Protheroe.

,,

Recording this CD was an exciting time for the band; A time to define
its own voice. Words cannot adequately describe any music. Salt
invites you to listen to the clips and have a “Salt Experience for yourselves.
