Edward Rockett - Native American Flute, Bodhran, Kilimba, Tin Whistle Contrary
to popular belief, Edward was not born in the back seat of a potato
harvester on March 19, 1948. But, it is true that he had his ears
glued to KYA, San Francisco for the latest Elvis Presley songs.
Music has been the focal point of Ed's entire life; from rolling
around the floor to honky-tonk sounds his grandfather belted out on
piano -- to the 78s his older cousin spun on his tiny record player
-- to the late night jam sessions in pubs on the west coast of
Ireland. And he can't get enough music of any kind, from pristine
baroque to primitive African. After years of appreciation, Edward
was drawn towards playing the music himself. Since buying his first
penny whistle and learning to play by ear, he has acquired a talent
for the low-D-whistle, flute, bodhran (Irish drum) and kalimba as
well. |

Lorin was born in White Plains, New York on May 11, 1953. Her father's musical career spans over 4 decades; from bassist, to Glen Miller's copyist. to composer, arranger and producer of hundreds of songs including the 1950'a hits "The thing" and "Sweet Violets". Being brought up in a musical household familiarized Lorin with all types of music. She sang professionally throughout her childhood on commercials and children's albums. Later she played classical music with chamber groups on the sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, bass and great bass recorders. When she became friends with the original 4 Salts, she began to integrate these instruments into the traditional Irish music they were then playing. As the Salts sound is taking on new dimensions, Lorin is certainly a part of their Renaissance. |

Paul, born
on April 26. 1951, is a native San Diegan. He has been playing music
since the age of 10, starting with the piano and guitar and more
recently, the violin. His current fiddling style is a synthesis of 2
of his idols; Irish soloist Kevin Burke and jazz violinist Stephane
Grapelli. Paul joined SALT while studying for his doctorate in
biology in Santa Barbara and works by day as a Biomedical
Researcher. His dedication to the SALT concept is evidenced by the
fact that he commutes four hours each way to join the group for
recording sessions and concerts, only to be subject to ridicule for
bringing his dirty laundry with him. Paul is uniquely distinguished
by having been kicked out of the band more than any other member. |

Reed Harding - Guitar, Fiddle, Piano Born on
August 10, 1952 and a classically trained pianist since first grade,
Reed went off the deep end in 1965 at age 13 playing guitar and bass
in a high school dance/garage rock band. "Gloria", "Louie, Louie",

supported himself growing houseplants between 1975 and 1981 - during
